Location

Palmyra is located in the Northern Line Island, roughly 1000 miles (1600 km) south of the main Hawai'an Islands and just north of the islands of Kiribati. Palmyra is part of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, and the U.S. Minor Outlying Islands and its islands and surrounding waters are managed as a National Wildlife Refuge by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
